Advanced Instrumentation
We have selected the Kanardia Indu range of electronic instruments for the main flight units.
These state-of-the-art devices mimic classical instrument display formats but underpin it with modern electronics. The result is the best of both worlds for the pilot; perfect and intuitive analogue readings combined with high precision digital readouts.
Each instrument analogue display is configured to show the correct warning levels for the DeltaJet StingRay 500, such as Rotax rpm limits and stall, manoeuvring and Vne on the Airspeed indicator. The Rev Counter also stores and displays engine run time on the LCD display while the Altimeter shows the pressure information and corresponding flight level.
These advantages don’t come at the expense of unnecessary weight, with each instrument weighing just 210g.
Rev Counter
RPM information is not only shown on the regular outer scale but also displayed digitally on the centre colour LCD.
This digital readout is also configured to change colour as the revs climb: amber for a cautionary zone and red for the danger zone.
The RPM Meter measures and stores engine running time on an integrated memory module with the total engine time value displayed on the LCD.
When connected to a CAN bus instrument, RPM and engine hours data is outputed for use by other Kanardia devices.
Air Speed Indicator
Just like the RPM Meter, the Airspeed Indicator will transmit airspeed and OAT data to other Kanardia units connected to the bus.
The outer analogue display is divided linearly in a 230° scale with a colour digital LCD display in the centre.
The digital LCD display is programmed with the DeltaJet StingRay 500 flight characteristics and configured to show three types of warnings:
- stall speed (white);
- manoeuvring speed (yellow);
- never exceed speed limit (red)

Altimeter
Just like the usual altimeter found in most aircraft, the DeltaJet's altimeter can be set to QNH using the knurled knob at the bottom left.
However, the digital LCD display also shows the current altitude as well as the QNH and flight level.
An integrated battery provides approx. 1h of uninterrupted instrument operation if power should fail for any reason during flight.
Vertical Speed Indicator
The Vertical Speed Indicator operates just like the usual VSI in showing climbing or descending on the outer 360° display.
However, this information is also shown on the digital LCD readout, which it quickly becomes second nature to look out for.
